Ask a Rev Cycle Expert: Is Most Favored Nation On Hold?

Question:

Is it true that the Most Favored Nation (MFN) Payment model has been placed on hold? Where can we find this information?

Answer:

Yes, the MFN Payment model has been placed on hold. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has created a specific MFN Model website within their Innovation Center. An update on the page states, the MFN Model was not implemented on January 1, 2021 and will not be implemented without further rulemaking.”
