How COVID-19 Has Impacted Hospital Charge Capture

The pandemic has stressed hospital operations, staff and finances to the limits. With the loss of one of the largest revenue producers, elective procedures, the hospital revenue has been negatively impacted. Many facilities had to move to remote operations, other than clinical. As such one area of revenue cycle significantly affected was charge capture. Now that there appears to be light on the horizon from the pandemic hospitals once again have to tighten their revenue cycle to pre-pandemic state. Focusing on charge capture is one of those operations. We will look at what impact the pandemic had; continues to have and how to get charge capture back to a pre-pandemic state or better!
